米で人気急上昇、話題の日本産フルーツ「スモウ・シトラス」とは？

ただ、不知火やデコポンの名称は米国の消費者にはピンとこないと同社は考えた。「スモウ・シトラスの名称は、この果物の外観に由来する」とＡＣブランズのブランド管理責任者サニア・ガル氏は説明する。従来の柑橘類に比べると巨大なことや、「頭の出っ張りが土俵上の力士のように見える」という理由からこの名が付いたと同氏は話す。
２０１８年３月以来、米国での販売は毎年約３５％増えている。

アメリカのスーパーで青果売り場のお兄さんが「このミカンすごく美味しいんだよ、僕のお気に入りなんだぁ。」と紹介してたのがこのSumoミカンでした。
最初に聞いた時、相撲？違うよね。と思ったけどまさか日本のデコポンだったとは気が付きませんでした。

　

数年前からホールフーズで冬に売られるようになって嬉しい限り。
お値段は1ポンドで3.99ドルくらい。

　

オレンジやネーブルと違い外皮が剥きやすいし、
身はオレンジ、ネーブルと同じくらいの甘さがあり、内皮も薄くて大好きです。

　

売り場のカラーやデザインがオシャレで、こんなにセレブみに溢れたデコポン見た事ない。

　

　

近所のスーパーで初めて見た時、「スモー？　変な名前のオレンジだにゃ」
て思ったけど、相撲からのネーミングだったのか。

見た目は厚皮っぽいけど手でむけるくらい柔らかくて
