米国で新型コロナウイルスに対するワクチンの接種を完了した人のうち約５８００人が新型コロナに感染したことがわかった。米疾病対策センター（ＣＤＣ）がＣＮＮに明らかにした。
一部では重症者も出ているほか、７４人が死亡した。３９６人は接種後に入院が必要となった。

今回の数字はワクチンが現実世界でどのように有効なのかを示すＣＤＣからの初のデータとなる。
また、ワクチンが重い疾患や死を完全には予防できないことも示している。

ワクチンは感染予防に１００％の有効性があるわけではなく、数千万人がワクチン接種をすれば、こうした事例はさらに報告されるだろう。

ファイザーとビオンテックのワクチンは治験での有効性は９５％だった。
今月上旬に発表された米国での実際のデータでは６カ月にわたって９１％超の有効性が示された。

ワクチンなしだとざっくり35万人程度感染する計算になるから、感染者数という観点ではものすごく優秀ということになる。
