アカデミー監督賞にクロエ・ジャオ監督　非白人女性、アジア系女性で初

２５日に行われたアカデミー賞の授賞式で、「ノマドランド」のクロエ・ジャオ監督が監督賞を受賞した。同賞の受賞は非白人女性としても、アジア系女性としても初めてだった。

女性の監督賞受賞は「ハート・ロッカー」のキャスリン・ビグロー監督に続いてアカデミー賞史上２人目。

ジャオ監督は受賞スピーチで「これは自分の良さを持ち続け、互いの良さを持ち続ける信念と勇気がある人のものです。そうすることがどんなに困難であろうとも」と語った。

才能があったから選ばれたわけで、人種や性別はたまたまに過ぎない。
と思いたい。

　

この人は過去のインタビューで中国のことを嘘で塗り固められた、と発言をしたあとから中国内では一気に話題から消えた。個人的には今回の受賞は歓迎する。

　

前評判がすんごく高かった。
見に行こうと思ってた。

　

状況が状況だから、もしかしたらアジア系に有利だったかも。
でもそのチャンスをつかめる、生かせる、のも才能のうち。

　

映画を見ましたが、生きていくことの1つの話を淡々と描かれていた。
主演女優も良かったし、他の出演者も良かった。

　

この作品は良かったもの。
本物のノマドが実名で出演していて、彼らの本当の言葉を挟みながら圧巻の風景を自然光で撮影している。
社会問題を提起しているけど、生き方にフォーカスしていてマジックアワーの逆光に佇むマクドーマンドの姿は強烈だった…

　

監督のクロエ・ジャオは、北京生まれの方ですが、アメリカ人の生き様に興味があるのか、若いカウボーイの生活を描いた前作『ザ・ライダー』を観ると『ノマドランド』と同じ手法で演出されており、どちらも異人から見たアメリカでもある。

　

次はマーベル映画を監督するし、これからのアメリカ映画を代表する監督さんだと思う。

　

アメリカと労働環境の違いや、ノマドの道を選ぶ過程でそこに至るバックグラウンドも日本人にはわからないところもありましたが、人生も終りが見えてきた世代ということもあって、いろいろ考えさせられながら観ていました。

　

アカデミー協会もご多分に漏れず世間体を気にするようになっているからね。女性、有色会員をかなり増やしてきているから。受賞ノミネート数白人映画ｖｓ黒人映画、男優ｖｓ女優等ここ5〜6年いろいろありました。でも、今回の作品は前評判もよく受賞されても納得です。

　

作品を観ている間は、監督が女性だとかアジア系だとか、なんか頭に浮かばずにいたよ。アメリカ国内の経済問題、格差問題、家族との関係などが根底にあり、個人の生き方の選択と人種を超えてアメリカ大陸を彷徨うある種「民族」の存在を感じさせる作品だった。

　

昔は「羊たちの沈黙」とか「タイタニック」とか「ロード・オブ・ザ・リング」とか、
純粋にエンタメ作品大ヒットした作品が受賞してたけど、最近はマイノリティとか社会的なテーマが前面に出た作品でないとまず取れない印象だにゃ。

今回の作品賞、監督賞、主演女優賞の３冠とった「ノマドランド」はどうなんだろ。
内容に関する評判は良いみたいだけどね。
